Deputy Manager & Clinical Lead

I am a Mental Health Nurse trained with over 10 years in managerial posts, starting my managerial role in a big healthcare organisation – BUPA.

I am passionate about their health and wellbeing, providing care that is tailor-made to their needs and abilities (person-centred care). I am always an advocate for freedom, and also seeing a person first before seeing their illness.

I am also an advocate for:
• Transparency.
• Effective Communication – Keeping families informed and updated on the health and well-being of their loved ones.
• Advocate for residents to be cared for with respect, dignity, kindness and to always act in their best interest if they lack capacity.

Zoe Sidebottom

Zoe Sidebottom

Receptionist & Administrator

Hi, my name is Zoe, and I am a Receptionist/Admin support for the team here at The Gables. I started working at The Gables in January of 2022 as a carer, shortly after having my own experiences of living and caring for someone with dementia. Ever since, I have had a passion to use my knowledge and understanding to deliver the same expectation of person-centred care to the tenants who live under the roof of The Gables.

I am now based at the front of house, so I’ll always be the first person you see and will invite you in with warm, welcoming arms to ensure that you are happy and that you feel comfortable upon your entrance and exit, after visiting a loved one. I will always answer any questions or queries you may have, but if I can point you in the right direction of whom you can speak to in order to have a good overview and understanding of the matter, I shall definitely do so. Our priority isn’t just ensuring that our residents are safe, happy and that their care needs are met… it is also important to us that families and friends leave with a good knowledge of what is happening with their loved ones and their care in order for them to leave happy – We are here as your support network too.

Frequently Asked Questions

I worry that I might lose all my independence if I go into a home??

We understand that this is a very real concern for our prospective residents – after all, they have lived full and independent lives until now. But rest assured that we will do all we can to help you live as fully and independently as possible, and to keep up with any hobbies and interests you might have. And, as it’s never too late to learn something new, we can introduce you to new hobbies too!

When will my friends and relatives be able to visit me??

Our visiting times are very flexible and you are welcome to have visitors any time between 9am and 8pm.  Principal carers and/ or family and friends may telephone us at any time, day or night, to enquire about your well-being. We will always try to enable you to speak directly to the person telephoning, and if that is not possible we’ll pass on any messages for you.

Who will be looking after me??

When you become a resident, you will be allocated a Key Worker Care Assistant who will help you with your individual personal and recreational needs, and a Named Nurse who will support you with your nursing needs.

What if I don’t like the food??

We take pride in the variety and quality of our meals. Our Head Chef works with Apetito to develop our own varied restaurant-style dining menu, with meals to suit everyone. With specialist nutritionist and dietician input we  provide healthy meals to suit all tastes and preferences  There is a rolling menu plan covering an 8-week period, which includes two main choices for each meal. Catering staff will produce a daily menu, which will be displayed in a prominent place within the Home, and residents are welcome to suggest changes to the menu at any time.
